Director of Talent

Boston, MA

Black Kite is at an exciting inflection point, and talent is everything. As our Director of Talent, you will be the architect of how we find, attract, and bring on the people who will define our next chapter. This is a hands-on, individual contributor role — you will own the full talent acquisition function end to end, serving as both strategist and executor as we scale.

This role sits at the heart of our People team and carries real opportunity to grow as the organization does. You will report to and collaborate with the VP, People to build a best-in-class recruitment engine, and you will co-lead our employer branding efforts to ensure the world knows why Black Kite is a destination company. You will partner closely with leadership and hiring managers to develop an impactful, forward-looking talent strategy — one that keeps us ahead of our hiring needs through strong pipelines and a continuously evolving approach to how we attract and bring on the best Black Kiters. This is a hybrid role based out of our Boston HQ office.

What You'll Own

Talent Acquisition Strategy & Execution

  • Lead and own the full-cycle recruitment process across all functions — sourcing, screening, interviewing, offers, and closing — with a focus on speed, quality, and candidate experience.
  • Develop and drive a forward-looking talent acquisition strategy aligned with Black Kite's business goals and growth trajectory.
  • Partner with hiring managers and department heads on workforce planning, role scoping, and prioritization of open headcount.
  • Build and maintain robust pipelines of passive talent for critical and recurring roles, including sales, marketing, and technical functions.
  • Continuously refine and improve processes, interview frameworks, and tooling to raise the bar on quality of hire and time-to-fill.

Employer Brand & Candidate Experience

  • Serve as a strategic partner to the Marketing team to develop and amplify Black Kite's employer brand across key channels, including LinkedIn, job boards, social media, and events.
  • Own the candidate experience from first touch to offer acceptance, ensuring every interaction reflects Black Kite's culture and values.
  • Champion initiatives that showcase Black Kite's mission, culture, and people — turning employees into brand ambassadors.

Data, Reporting & Operational Excellence

  • Define, track, and report on key talent metrics — including time-to-fill, quality of hire, source of hire, and pipeline health — to drive continuous improvement and inform leadership decisions.
  • Own and optimize the ATS and recruitment tech stack to ensure operational efficiency and a great experience for candidates and hiring managers alike.
  • Provide regular reporting and insights to People team, leadership, and relevant business partners.

People Team Collaboration

  • Act as a key contributor to broader People team initiatives, including onboarding, employee engagement, and learning & development, as bandwidth allows.
  • Partner with leadership and hiring managers to ensure seamless handoffs from offer acceptance through Day 1 and beyond.

What You'll Bring

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in talent acquisition or recruitment, with demonstrated success leading full-cycle hiring in high-growth tech environments.
  • Deep experience recruiting for go-to-market functions — particularly sales and marketing — with the ability to hire across technical and non-technical roles.
  • A proven track record of building or significantly evolving a recruitment function, ideally in a startup or scale-up environment.
  • Strong strategic thinking paired with a bias for execution — you're equally comfortable designing a hiring roadmap and rolling up your sleeves to source and close candidates.
  • Experience partnering on employer branding initiatives, with the ability to translate company culture into compelling external narratives.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; you build trust quickly with candidates, hiring managers, and cross-functional partners.
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze recruitment metrics and translate insights into action.
  • Proficiency with applicant tracking systems (ATS), sourcing tools, and modern recruitment platforms.
  • High adaptability and comfort operating in ambiguous, fast-moving environments where priorities shift.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
